Felt Flower Pin

I loved the way the little flower in the center of my flower pillow turned out, so I decided to make a flower for my daughters hair or a pin for a shirt.

To begin, you will need to trace a circle onto some felt. I used a tea cup.

Once you have several (approx. 10) circles traced, cut them out.
Then, you will take your hot glue gun and put a small dot in the middle of one of the circles. Then fold it in half sealing it with the glue.

Then put another dot of glue at the bottom of the flat part of the half circle.
And fold in half again.

When you get all but one circle done, you will take your glue gun and place a small dot of glue in the middle of the open circle and start gluing your folded circles onto the open one.

Just keep gluing until there is no more room on the circle.

When it's finished, take a small hair clip or pin and glue it onto the back of your flower, I secured mine with a little piece of felt, but it isn't necessary.
Then put it on your 3 year old to model while she watches Dora. Fabulous!

Baby Shoe Art

My baby is 3 years old and it is killing me that she isn't tiny anymore! I've been giving tons of her clothes away lately, but this little zebra pair of shoes I couldn't part with. So I decided to frame them and keep them forever!

I got an old frame and took out the glass, then painted it pink to match my little girls room. After it dried I sanded it and glazed it.

Next, I found an old book with quotes and poems and ripped out some pages on children.

Once I tore out the pages, I modpodged them onto the front of the cardboard backing from the frame.

When everything was dry, I took my little girls shoes and put E6000 glue onto the soles and stuck them to the cardboard.

I let them dry for 48 hours and then I put the frame back together. I tied a white piece of ribbon on the top of the frame to hang it up. Beautiful!

Burlap Boxes

I had these ugly paper mache' boxes forever. I couldn't figure out what to do with them. So I covered them in burlap of course!

Once I got them covered, I cut out some vinyl and painted inside the numbers. Voila! Super cute!!

By the way, I was going to give a step by step on how to cover the boxes, but I figured that would insult your intelligence, so I left it alone.

Tea Cup Pots

Throughout the years I have fallen in love with plants and flowers, etc. However, when they are in my house, they die immediately, or they just don't grow at all. So I decided to give my flowers a little more inspiration to grow...

I went to the D.I. and picked up some tea cups for .75 each.

Filled them with potting soil from Lowe's and some zinnia seeds also from Lowe's.

I added some vinyl and put the tea cups in front of window. Pray they'll grow ♥

Flower Pillow

I've seen these flower pillows around lately, they are kind of pricey, and they look easy to make. So I decided to try one for myself, and guess what, they are soooo easy to make, it's really ridiculous.

I started with a square pillow form that I've had laying around for awhile. I sewed a quick slipcover out of cream felt to fit the pillow.

Then I drew a flower petal in three different sizes on a piece of paper and cut it out. Then I used the flower petal pattern and started cutting out the shapes on the felt. I felt like I was cutting forever. I didn't count how many I cut, but if I had to guess, I would say 40 of each size.

After I got all the petals cut, I took my glue gun and put a small strip of glue down the bottom center of each petal and pinched the sides together, this gave the petal a little dimension.

After I got all the petals glued, I started to assemble my flower. I started with the biggest petals first and glued the bottom part of the petal right on the pillow making a circle.

I just kept working my way around the circle in a spiral shape gluing the petals on, when I was done with one size I would start the next smaller size until I had a tiny little circle left in the middle of the flower.

That is when I traced my Dr. Pepper can (I can't craft without the Dr.) then I cut out 3 dr. pepper circles.

I took each circle and folded it in half, then I folded it in half again, then I hot glued it together. When I got all three circles glued, I glued them together. Then I glued the three circles right into the center of the flower. After I was all done, my 8 year old son asked me where I bought that pillow at...priceless.

Jute Fruit

I got my new Ballard Design Catalog in the mail a few days ago and fell in love with their giant jute covered pears. But the price was terrible! So off to Michael's I went. I took my 40% off coupon and got a bag of faux pears. They were 12.99 and with my coupon they were only around 7.80 for a bag of five! Awhile ago when I was at Hobby Lobby I grabbed some rolls of jute. Jute is really cheap, like 400 feet for 2.69 cheap.

To begin, you will need to use your hot glue gun and put a little glue at the top of the pear, by the stem and just start wrapping the jute around. You will just need a little glue every so often, just make sure you wrap the jute tightly without any spacing.

My three year old likes to pose, even if it's while holding a pear. I ♥ her.

I also jute wrapped some styrofoam balls. Next, I'm going to jute wrap one of my kids...
