These are so easy, and I've seen them everywhere. From Ballard Designs, to Tai Pan and everywhere in between. They are pretty pricey, more than I would like to pay. And I've figured out how to make them!!!
You will need balloons, liquid starch, and jute.
First, blow up your balloon to the size you want your ball to be. Then you will need to pour some starch into a bowl and saturate about 2-3 feet of jute into the liquid. After it is really wet, find the end of the jute and start wrapping around the balloon. I tried to tie the jute on and I also did some by just wrapping and not tying, and really not tying worked better.
Once you get your jute all the way on the balloon, just cut some more and do it all over again. Cover the balloon until you have the desired look you are going for.
When you have finished putting the jute on, put the ball on some aluminum foil to dry. When it has dried for quite a few hours, roll it over to dry on the other side. It takes at least 24 hours to completely dry.
When they are completely dry, take a pin and pop the balloons and then pull out the remains through one of the openings. That's it! Easy Peazy!!
By the way, I've decided to do my barn boutique Friday the 29th of April from 10-7. And for those of you who have never been to one of my boutiques, I almost always only make one of each thing. So it's first come first serve. So I would suggest getting there early...and yes, I will have a couple of these jute balls for sale ♥
This is such a cute idea!!!
